THE World Media Academy, a joint initiative of the Washington D.C. based International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Greycells Education Ltd has announced admission to two 10-month courses, each leading to a Post-Graduate Diploma – one in Television Journalism and the other in Print /digital journalism. Students in both the courses in Delhi would learn the fundamentals and practical aspects of digital media.

The course on Television Journalism focuses on training students to earn entry-level jobs in the fast-growing television business. The modules include Anchoring, Reporting, Video journalism, Editing, Producing and finally a convergence of all of the above. The second course in print and digital media emphasises on a well-rounded education in the evolving world of newspaper and online journalism as they get ready for jobs in traditional as well as emerging media – not just through classroom learning but by hands-on practice. The Particular skills taught are in the area of reporting, editing, and design in both print and web. The new centre would have its own studio and news-room. The course also imparts training in social media, multimedia and mobile journalism. In addition, there are common courses and special projects such as on rural development, poverty or making use of the Right to Information Act to develop news reports.

Speaking to Careers360, the Dean and CEO of WMA Delhi, Todd M Baer said the advantage lies in one, exposure that the students would get in learning the best practices in both international and Indian broadcast/print networks and two, cost of the course which at the moment is Rs 1,25,000 for the full 10-month course.

PG Diploma in Print & Digital Media: Provides education in the field of newspaper and online journalism. Following skills taught - Reportimg, editing, design, web reporting, web editing, social media, multimedia, mobile journalism.

Eligibility: You must be a graduate.

Mode of fee payment: Fees can be paid in two installments.  The first installment of Rs. 75,000 must be paid within 15 days of admission.  The remaining Rs. 50,000 must be paid by September 16, 2011.
