MGR Film and Television Institute Admission 2011

M.G.R. Govt. Film and Television Institute, C.I.T. Campus, Tharamani, Chennai-600113, has invited Applications for admission to the following 3 year Diploma Courses for 2011-12.

(i) Diploma in Direction, Screenplay Writing and TV Production
(ii) Diploma in Film Technology and TV Production (Cinematography)
(iii) Diploma in Film Technology and TV Production(Film Processing)
(iv) Diploma in Film Technology and TV Production(Sound Recording and Sound Engineering)
(v) Diploma in Film Editing and TV Production

For admission to the Diploma in Direction, Screen Play Writing and TV Production, the minimum qualification is a pass in any Degree from a recognized University. For admission to Diploma in Film Technology and TV Production (Cinematography), applicant should have a pass in the Higher Secondary with Physics and Chemistry or Vocational Course with Photography as a special subject or any equivalent qualification with the specification stated here or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

For admission to Diploma in Film Technology and TV Production (Film Processing), applicant should have a pass in the Higher Secondary with Physics and Chemistry or Vocational Course with Photography as a special subject or any equivalent qualification with the specification stated here or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

For admission to Diploma in Film Technology and TV Production (Sound Recording and Sound Engineering), applicant should have a pass in the Higher Secondary with Physics and Chemistry or Vocational Course with Radio and TV or Domestic electronics equipments as special subjects or any equivalent qualification with the specification stated here or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

For admission to Diploma in Film Editing and TV Production, applicant should have a pass in the Higher Secondary Examination (Plus 2) (any group). One seat in each of the Diploma Courses is reserved exclusively for applicants from other States and one seat is reserved in all Diploma Courses in each category for Sons/Daughters of the persons connected with the Film Industry and duly sponsored by the President, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Chennai-6.

Merit for admission for the Programmes will be prepared by considering the marks in the qualifying examination (60%), marks in the written test on a film review (25%) and marks in the interview (15%).

Details of minimum percentage of marks required for admission, age limit, procedure for selection, fee structure etc are available in the Prospectus given at www.tn.gov.in/results/mgrinstitute/2011/prospectus.pdf . Separate application should be submitted for each Course.

Application forms with Prospectus can be obtained in person from the Principal, M.G.R. Govt Film and Television Institute, Tharamani, Chennai-600 113 by sending a Demand Draft drawn for Rs.100/-(for SC/ST Rs.30/- on production of copy of Community Certificate), on any Nationalised Bank, taken in favour of ‘Principal, M.G.R. Govt. Film and Television Institute, Tharamani, Chennai-600 113’, payable at Chennai.

Those who need the form by Post should also attach a self addressed envelope of size 30 cm x 25 cm, with postage stamp for Rs.25/- affixed.

Application forms and Prospectus can also be downloaded from http://www.tn.gov.in/results/mgrinstitute/2011/default.html and submitted along with Demand Draft for Rs.100/- (for SC/ST Rs.30/- on production of copy of Community Certificate). Demand Draft should be one taken on or after 18.5.2011. Applications will be issued only up to 5 pm on 6.6.2011.

Filled up applications with the necessary docuemtns as sp[ecified in the Prospectus should reach ‘Principal, M.G.R. Govt. Film and Television Institute, Tharamani, Chennai-600 113’, latest by 5 pm on 6-6-2011.
