Eligibility for Indian Institute of Mass Communication Courses

Eligibility: Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible. In addition, five seats are available for NRIs/NRI sponsored candidates. (NRLs/ NRI sponsored candidates each course for which a separate application from has to be submitted. The selection for these seats will be based on Group Discussion/ Interview or both. The applicants for NRIs/ NRI sponsored seats are not required to appear for written examination).
 Essentials: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline .Those who have appeared or are appearing at the degree examination are also eligible to apply. If selected, their admission will be subject to their producing at least a provisional certificate in original from the college/university.
 Maximum Age: 25 years for general category (29 years for SC/ ST and 28 years for OBC) candidates.

Reservation of Seats: As per Government of India rules.
 Selection of Candidates: all eligible candidates are called at their own expense for an entrance exam. During third week of May in New Delhi, if the number of candidates so warrants, also in Bhubaneswar/Kolkata/Patna/Lucknow/Mumbai/Guwahati and Bangalore. The Institute reserves the right to call any candidates for entrance exam. At any centre (other than his /her choice) for administrative reasons.Oriya Journalism exam is held at Bhubaneswar only
 All the candidates who appear in the written exam. Are ranked on the basis of the marks obtained by them. A short-list is prepared for each of the courses (including a separate short-list for the reserved seats in each course). The short-listed candidates are called for an interview/group discussion during the first week of July in New Delhi at their own expense

Medium of Instruction and Examination: Hindi and /or English and course No.5 related language also
Fees* Tuition fee for course no. 1& 2 is Rs. 25,000/-each ,for course no.3 it is 57,500 ,for course 4 is Rs.36,500/-and for course no. 5 is Rs.15,500.* subject to revision
Hostel: Hostel facility is available in Delhi (only for girls).At Dhenkanal there is an excellent hostel facility for both girls and boys
